New mailbox, alias and forwarding
How to create a mailbox in the portal, add further addresses to it and have mail sent elsewhere.
You manage the mailboxes of your domain yourself in the client portal. A change reaches the mail server within moments.
New mailbox
- In the portal, open the domain and go to Mail.
- Click New mailbox.
- In Mailbox name, enter the part of the address before the at sign, for example
infoorinvoices. - Choose a password: at least ten characters, including a lowercase letter and an uppercase letter or a digit.
- Save. We create the mailbox on the mail server, which takes a moment.
Additional addresses (aliases)
An alias is an address that delivers into an existing mailbox. It is useful when one person should receive mail at several addresses — for example sales@ and orders@.
- Click edit next to the mailbox.
- In Additional addresses (aliases), enter the addresses, one per line.
- Save.
Mail forwarding
Forwarding sends every received message on to another address, for example a private e-mail.
- Click edit next to the mailbox.
- In Mail forwarding, enter the target addresses, one per line.
- If the message should also stay in the original mailbox, keep Keep a copy in the mailbox switched on.
Changing the password and removing a mailbox
Set a new password in the mailbox edit form; an empty field leaves the password unchanged. Removing a mailbox also deletes all messages in it, and this step cannot be undone.
